Slogans, one liners, and quotes have been a thing of mine for many years. I always said "I should make a shirt out of that"! Well, finally, one day I did, and now every few weeks a new idea comes to me. I use the words, font, images, placement, spacing, and sizing to layout and design tee shirts. I attempt use each component to build on the overall idea, message, or "attitude" of the shirt uniquely.
Tee shirts seem to be a natural way to promote my website, blog, music, and writing creatively, intelligently, and sometimes just fun. Each tee shirt is different. There is a different story behind each. Some are more impressive than others. Some deeper than others. Like in my first two books of poetry "Philosopher Stoned – Incarcerated and Philosopher Stoned – Recovered" I will share my ideas about the pieces below.
This was the first tee shirt I designed out of stock images as a cool back to a similar style color image of a Gorilla with headphones on the front side. It has been the first most popular shirt with the guys.
I had this t shirt in mind quite some time! My high school age sisters really like this one. It is cute, and fun! It was something that came to mind around 2009 when I thought about making tee shirts with pick up lines that were poetic or unique.
Nina Cash designed this one from one of my personal quotes. I have found that when I honestly look at my true motivations, when in fear, and I act from it, I tend to cause exactly what it is I am afraid of. For instance, If I am afraid of telling my girlfriend something I don't like about her because I am afraid of how she will react. I stuff my feelings until I become more and more unhappy, until finally I blow up and attack her causing her to react defensively and argue with me, which may have been what I was trying to avoid, negative situations.
Another quote, but not mine, an anonymous one. Nina helped me design it! It's the girls version ; ) It's a nice reminder that what we think of ourselves is important, and isn't necessarily what others tell us. I still welcome honest feedback and perspective as it helps maintain an open mind. Seeing things through others eyes can be revealing. often others see in us what we don't see in ourselves. Also, I've always thought "we see in others what we don't want to see in ourselves". This is the basis of critical and judgmental projection transposing are own issues onto others so that we don't have to look at our own issues.
"Religion is for those who fear going to hell. Spirituality is for those who have already been there!" Both work best together for me, but what spirituality means to me is each persona individual relationship with something greater than themselves. If we do not believe and relate to something greater than ourselves, then we are the greatest thing we believe in and relate to. How do you explain everything without a concept of something greater than yourself, and if you believe in something greater than yourself, then why not rely on a power greater than yourself. To me, Religion is the communal relationship of each individual's relationships with their higher power relating to each others, and ultimately revealing greater truths. Religion is not synonymous with church, either. Any two people, or group of people, opening each other's minds to honest communication and mutual respect and consideration is a basis for the religious experience I think.
The manshirt of the "What you think is none of my business".
The girl version of "Save the Planet! Be a lemming"! Lemmings are arctic rodents that migrate to the sea, jumping off a cliff into the ocean trying to swim and many die." It's a metaphor for how we are taught not to think for ourselves, and programmed by media to consume without question. We are becoming a reaction to our environment. Monkey see. Monkey do.
Good 'ol hometown fun (when you're town's elevation is greater than it's population)!
Ricky Cash on the back of this shirt says the quote on the front from time to time ; )
Something I once thought of and posted on facebook……….
The ladies version ; )
My all time favorite! Inspired by a true story, but elaborated upon for fun ; )
This shirt was based off a note I made myself as a concept from the labels inside of clothing, as our feelings are inside our bodies, we wear them both!
My favorite catch phrase and quote! I'll have to write more about this….. "this moment is all that exists". Be here now. We are all what we perceive together, which exists outside of ourselves, what we see, what we hear, what we taste, smell, etc. The moment is based in what we all share which is the world we live in together, the world we share outside of ourselves. Everything else is symbolic to this, language, thoughts, ideas about the past and present, only exist subjectively within our conception of things which cannot be objectively shared. We attempt to share our internal realities to some degree through conversation, art, music, text, whatever… Unfortunately, the more we communicate with less information in person (body language, tonation, gesticulation, facial expressions, ect.) the less information we have to understand what we are communicating. It has been said a majority of our communication is made through body language. We loose that information when on the phone. Voice tonation is a huge part of our understanding what is being communicated. Email, text, etc. do not include body language, or vocal tonation, which is even less information to understand what is attempting to be communicated. What happen when we do not have information? We have to fill in the gaps, tell ourselves a story to make sense of it, assume most everything, which really reflects our own reality more than anything else. This is why we feel further apart from each other and ultimately alienated from ourselves and each other.
Lemmings migrate to the arctic cliffs and plunge into the ocean killing themselves!

Worst than the first, but very personal.
The best line "The strike and slip fault line of our bodies emollient grind became scintillating bloom effervescent!"
